Understanding Sentence:
I understand INTASC Standard 1 to be that the teacher understands what it takes to be a teacher, including being knowledgeable in content areas and able to relate that content to the learner in meaningful ways.

The artifacts, Powerpoint on The Gray Wolf and Inspiration Project, are examples of Standard 1. The artifacts demonstrate my understanding of the content that I will be teaching. The Powerpoint on The Gray Wolf displays my knowledge of general content areas that I will teach and my ability to relate that knowledge to students in a meaningful and effective way. The Inspiration Project was an in-depth exploration into the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. It exemplifies my understanding that knowledge is developed through many different pathsways of learning . It also demonstrates my understanding that events and themes are often related through many disciplines.

The artifacts, Powerpoint on The Gray Wolf and Inspiration Project, represent who I am becoming as a teacher by showcasing my ability to use my own knowledge base to provide a rich learning experience. As a learner, I feel that the inspiration project especially showcases my ability to critically think and tie broad concepts together through cause and effect. The Inspiration program can be used in the classroom to help students break down, organize, and/or brainstorm broad or difficult concepts. As an instructor, I understand the need for a variety of learning opportunities. Having an in-depth understanding of the Inspiration program will be a valuable resource to use with my students.
